New Jersey, September 24 – Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have been making every possible effort to entertain American fans lately as part of the ongoing extravaganza, SLAM! The Tour, which features the two stars along with co-stars of their upcoming film, Farah Khan’s Happy New Year.
The tour made a sensational impact in Houston and New Jersey as the stars danced on some hit tunes. The stage shows are aimed at promoting Farah’s film that also features Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Malaika Arora Khan, along with prominent rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh and singer Kanika Kapoor who, after Baby doll in Ragini MMS 2 earlier this year, has created a new bang singing the number Lovely for Deepika in the movie.
The entire cast managed to mesmerise the audience with a colourful show. The opening act of the evening was a performance by Vivaan on a track composed by Ram Sampath. Deepika took the stage in a shimmering flowing outfit to perform a couple of her biggest hits such as Aahu aahu from Love Aaj Kal and Titli from Chennai Express.
She also danced to Angrezi beat and Tumhi ho bandhu from Cocktail and Balam Pichkari from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Of course, her performance would not have been complete without a scintillating dance on her new song, Lovely. SRK and Deepika also tried to present their onscreen chemistry in the romantic number Satrangi re before a live audience for the first time.
Earlier, Shah Rukh made a grand airborne entry on a cable. He spectacularly dived down the stage, sending a frenzy among his fans. He danced on his famous numbers like Chhammak chhallo from Ra.One, Yeh kaali kaali aankhe (Baazigar), Suraj hua maddham (Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham) and the title track of Don.
Abhishek entered from among the crowd and rapped his hit song Ek main aur ek tu hai from Bluff Master. He also danced to the beats of Kajra re (Bunty Aur Babli), Maa da ladla and Desi girl (Dostana). He topped his performance with Nandu Bhede from Happy New Year.
Choreographer-director Farah and Boman performed a special medley and also put up a funny skit about how Boman wanted to be the lead actor in Farah’s movie. It reminded the audience of their comic chemistry in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, a film where they had starred together.
Malaika performed on the Devil song from Kick, and Sonu later joined her to match steps to the rhythm of her hit item number in Dabangg, Munni badnam hui. Yo Yo Honey Singh performed Char botal vodka, Blue hai paani and Brown rang.
When he started belting out Lungi Dance from Chennai Express, Shah Rukh naturally joined him on stage and also called Abhishek, Boman, Vivaan and Sonu to match steps. Kanika also performed Jugni with the English dance duo of Suleman Mirza and Madhu Singh of Signature group giving a performance.
