JayalalithaaKUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2  — The Malaysian consulate-general in Chennai has confirmed that there were no reports of Malaysians, including students, being injured or affected by protests in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, the situation in Tamil Nadu had returned to normal with public transportation and businesses operating as usual but the atmosphere remained tense with reports of continued protests in various parts of Chennai and across the state.

“The ministry advises all Malaysians in Tamil Nadu to be extra vigilant and to take all necessary precautions for their personal safety and avoid areas where protests and large public gatherings are happening,” it said.
