PUTRAJAYA, November 3 – The situation opposite the Palace of Justice on the fifth day of the final appeal hearing of the case on Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was lusterless with about 30 people present to give their support to the PKR advisor.
A check by Bernama at the court compound here found about 15 Anwar supporters reciting the ‘Surah Yaasin’ at 10am beside the court building, monitored by police personnel.
The drop in the number of Anwar supporters present might be due to the decision of the Federal Court to extend the duration of the proceedings in the appeal hearing, which was originally set for two days on Oct 28 and 29, and expected to be completed tomorrow.
Today, the prosecution led by Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah would continue with the reply to the argument presented by the defence, led by former Federal Court Judge Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram, regarding the conviction and five-year jail sentence on Anwar, 67, for sodomising his former personal assistant, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 27.
