ios8-twitter1New Delhi, November 13 – iOS is often lauded as the platform with the best apps. But how does one go about choosing which ones are the best? There are more than a million apps for the iPhone and around half a million for the iPad. Then, every month thousands more are added to the store.

Well, we have selected 8 new notable apps released in the last one month. If you use an iPhone or an iPad, these are the apps worthy of your attention and a place on your phone’s home screen.

Microsoft’s Office apps — Word, Excel and Powerpoint — are a benchmark when it comes to productivity. Apple’s iWork apps and Google’s Docs are good, but they are hardly as functional as Microsoft’s solutions. Now, that Microsoft has made Office apps free, these three apps are a no brainer for an iOS user.

You can edit and view docs using Microsoft’s comprehensive solution and as these are Office apps, your documents maintain same formatting across devices. Users can also sync up with DropBox and not just Microsoft’s own OneDrive, which by the way is awesome. Office 365 users get unlimited storage with a cap of 20,000 files and people who don’t subscribe to Office 365 get 1TB of free storage.

inbox_Google Inbox:

Inbox is perhaps the hottest new app in town. Launched along with the new Gmail app, with Inbox Google is trying to reinvent the way we view and use emails. It taps into the vast amount of data stored in Google’s servers to connect dots to make sense of emails.

Inbox is like using Google Now in a mail box. It dynamically offers mails which it feels will be of importance to the user on priority basis. It also cleverly segregates mails according to varied genres or categories. While the app can be found on the app store, you will need an invite to install it.

hyperlapseHyperlapse:

Instagram’s Hyperlapse is the app you should be using to capture video on your iPhone or iPad. It does not get simpler than that. Its claim to fame is its timelapse video feature which speeds up the footage to as fast as 10x speeds. Though it is fun, the bigger deal is what the app does with videos played at normal speeds.

With the use of its custom software algorithms, Hyperlapse can stabilise shaky footage to a great degree. It is almost like magic! Using the app you can create stable Go-Pro camera like videos. If you like video, then this app is a must have.

procam_ProCam 2:

If you are a photography enthusiast and find the barebones interface of the default camera app on your device to be too simple for your taste, then ProCam will please you. It is a paid app, but it offers numerous features that will catch the fancy of a shutterbug.

In its settings menu there are features like manual focus peaking, focus assist, sensitivity amongst others. It also offers a number of filters. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most comprehensive camera apps out there on the app store which we recommend wholeheartedly.

skyscannerSkyScanner Hotels and Flights:

Want to find the cheapest flights and hotels? Use SkyScanner, an iOS app which delivers exactly that! Combined with the new hotels app, users can find the best deals going around for both booking flights and hotels. The interface is also pretty straight forward and simple to use .

angry-birdAngry Birds Transformers:

If you are looking for a fast paced action shoot’em up style game, then look no further than the new Angry Birds Transformers. Angry ‘AutoBirds’ collide with the evil ‘Deceptihogs’ and this converts to a fun mobile gaming experience.

Signature characters from Hasbro’s Transformers franchise like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee make a return in the form of Red and Chuck and these characters also ‘transform’ into swanky cars laden with lasers in the tradition of the franchise.

audysseyAudyssey Music player:

If you are a stickler for the sound that you iPhone or iPad spit out then take a look at the Audyssey Music player. It pulls the music from your default music player app but with a twist. Users can purchase custom sound profiles for their audio gear.

Whether you use earphones, headphone, a loudspeaker, iPod dock or the speakers in your car, you can get a custom sound profile for it. For the most part the custom profiles result in a fuller sound. These profiles even make the standard Apple EarPods sound better. Now that is magical!

contract-killer-sniperContract Killer: Sniper:

Like playing the snipping assassin? Well, this game will quench your desire for covert shooting. It’s a gorgeous looking third person or first person shooter (depending on the perspective ) which looks gorgeous on the iPhones and iPads alike and, well are simple to play too.

The game also offers a plethora of guns and other accessories who can be upgraded in exchange for cash or gold. This makes it a very addictive prospect with good longevity.
