Kuala Lumpur, December 11 – MIC Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam has clarified that the contents of ROS letter on MIC’s re-election were revealed only after obtaining the consent from the party President Datuk Seri G.Palanivel.
He was responding to some media reports which criticized him for revealing the constents of the ROS letter in the absence of party President.
In a press conference called on 6th of December Dr Subra revealed the contents of the ROS letter which was delivered to MIC Headquarters on Friday 5th December.
Meanwhile, Dr Subra also said that the new date for re-election of MIC’s three vice president posts and Central Working Committee (CWC) seats will be decided after a meeting with the party president next week.
Speaking to reporters in Putra Jaya yesterday, he said MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel, who is also Natural Resources and Environment Minister is expected to return from an official visit overseas next week.
The Registrar of Societies (ROS) on Friday had ordered MIC to hold fresh polls for the three vice president posts and CWC seats as well as at 8 divisions, namely Bayan Baru, Bukit Gelugor, Subang, Bandar Baru Kulim, Taiping, Tambun, Sepang and Jasin.
Following the development, MIC postponed its annual general meeting scheduled to be held this month to enable the fresh polls.
Subramaniam, who is also Health Minister, urged MIC members not to be emotional about the matter and respect ROS’s decision.
