Kuala Lumpur, December 14 – Former MIC Youth leader Senator S.A.Vigneswaran has thrown a challenge to Tan Sri K.S.Nijar asking him to come for a public debate on the recent ROS (Registrar of Societies) ruling.
“I wish to challenge Tan Sri K.S.Nijhar for an open public debate to discuss on the fiasco in MIC which resulted in the Registrar of Societies nullifying the election for the Vice president (VP) and Central working committee. Let the MIC members know what had actually transpired in the party which led to this situation as many only know little about it” said Vigneswaran in a press statement released yesterday.
“Let us debate on the reasons for the ROS calling for re-election of the Vice president and 23 CWC posts. Let the members know how CWC is writing its own new laws through the disguise of interpretation. It is a fact that the ROS letter to MIC also contains ruling on elections in other division and branches in addition to VP and CWC positions and that after the investigations, decision was taken taking everything into consideration including Statutory Declaration (SD) statements from election agents as to the variation of votes” Vigneswaran further said.
“Tan Sri Nijhar had served his term and should concentrate on his work rather than open the Pandora box. The ROS decision on MIC is only a tip of the iceberg” Vigneswaran pointed out.
Nijhar was quoted in an online news portal that there were flaws in the ROS letter to MIC and therefore he would recommend the CWC to reject it.
Nijhar also said that he would recommend to the CWC to seek further clarification from the ROS or to appeal to Home Minister or to seek Judicial review and not to implement the directive until the conflicting issues are settled.
“To please the needs of a selected leaders who want to remain in their respective positions Palanivel has made a u-turn and wants to appeal against the decision” criticized Vigneswaran. In one of his earlier statements Palanivel had said that he would abide by ROS decision.
“The ROS decision is very clear in that if their directive was not adhered within 90 days, the party face the risk of being de-registered. Is this what Palanivel and his group want?” questioned Vigneswaran.
Vigneswaran contested for the Vice President’s post in last year’s election but failed to make it. However, he was appointed as a Senator this year by Palanivel and continues to serve as the chairman of MIC Klang division.
