KUALA LUMPUR, January 12 – Immediate changes are being implemented at the MIC headquarters (hq)here that will, among others, see only the party’s national leaders allowed to hold official press conferences there.
Those allowed to do so are MIC president, deputy president and vice-presidents as well as secretary-general and treasurer-general.
In a statement today, MIC secretary-general Datuk G. Kumaar Aamaan said all others would need to obtain prior approval from his office to hold any official press conference at the party headquarters.
“The MIC hq shall not be used by any persons or individuals for any press conference or press meet intended to criticise or make any adverse or
disparaging remarks or allegations of whatsoever nature against MIC or any of its national leaders,” he said.
Kumaar Aamaan noted that use of the premises for any meeting, function, gathering or other purposes required prior approval from the secretary-general’s office, and written applications must be made at least three days in advance.
Emergency situations are excepted with the secretary-general’s prior approval.
Kumaar Aamaan noted that security at the MIC headquarters would be enhanced with certain restrictions imposed on access to that location.
