Kuala Lumpur, January 28 – MIC Women leader Mohana Muniandy claimed she was today stopped by gangster-like security guards at the MIC Headquarters building, when she attempted to enter the building to proceed to her office there.
In a statement issued immediately after the incident she said as follows:-
“Today is my saddest day. I walked into the MIC building as usual and I was harassed and stopped by a group of men looking gangsterish and thuggish…they used a big stick n blocked the front door of the MIC building. To my surprise these men were wrestling and telling me I am NOT allowed into my own office” Mohana said in her statement.
She also called on the party President to answer several questions raised by her.
“Dear President Sir…like me, many have left our professions to commit time and service to the community through MIC, the mother Indian party for the Indians. The women in the party have no expectations and leave their family, leisure time, just to serve the people and give good name to the party.
Today’s incident has caused much fear and sadness in professionals like me. As the world out there sees you Sir, G.Palanivel as the Leader for the Indian community. Why and who is using gangsters to stop us and wrestle us.What is the intention Sir? Who is to answer this to the members? Is it wrong for us to make a unity call to resolve party matters ? Why irregularities are blown out of proportion?” asked Mohana in her statement.
She also further said – “MIC is a party we love with over 200,000 indian women members…the action today is simply unexpectable”.
However, after some minor tussles and arguments, the new security guards left the premises at the instructions of party’s Vice-President Datuk M.Saravanan, who said the security arrangement of the building will be now supervised by the MIC youths until a CWC meeting is called to determine the next course of action.
