KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 — MIC Youth today reiterated that the Youth movement had only taken over the security of the MIC headquarters for safety reasons and not conquered the building as claimed by media reports.

MIC Youth chief C.Sivarraajh (pic) said the MIC Youth would not stop anyone, be it party members or members of the public from entering the building because the staff of the building are going about their duties as usual.

Since we took over the security of the building, we have also prepared food for all the staff in the building,” he told reporters at the MIC headquarters, here today.

He said the decision to take over the security aspects was following a recent incident where several individuals blocked the main entrance to the party’s headquarters.

On Wednesday party vice-president Datuk M. Saravanan and Wanita chief Mohana Muniandy were allegedly threatened by “gangsters” who denied them access to the building.

Sivarraajh said a letter was sent to the MIC President Datuk Seri G.Palanivel to explain the decision by the MIC Youth to take over the security aspects of the party’s headquarters.

He said the MIC Youth were also prepared to hand over the security aspects to Palanivel if the party president can come forward an assure the safety of the members at the building.

On Dec 5, the ROS directed the MIC to hold re-elections for the posts of three vice-president and 23 Central Working Committee seats within 90 days, following complaints of abuse of power and misconduct during its polls, which contravened the party’s constitution and the Societies’ Act.

The ROS also advised MIC against holding its annual general meeting until the issue was settled.
