Kuala Lumpur, January 31 – All the office-bearers of MAICCI (Malaysian Association of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) have resigned to pave way for fresh elections to elect a new set of office-bearers for the association.
Sources said, all the office-bearers of MAICCI have resigned including the President Tan Sri Kenneth Eswaran, (pic) a prominent businessman.
One of the office-bearers when contacted spoke to selliyal.com about the Management Council meeting yesterday but declined to be quoted. He said that at the Management Council meeting yesterday, a new pro-tem committee comprising 5 members, has been formed with some important tasks.
One of the task is to conduct a fresh election by the end of March this year to elect a new set of office-bearers for the association which represents the business interests of the Indian community.
Sources also said earlier reports that President Kenneth Eswaran was removed by a vote of confidence were false and that there was no such vote. In fact, only the key office-bearers have resigned to pave way for election of new office-bearers.
Vasantharajan from Penang who is one of the members of the Management Council of MAICCI, when asked to comment about the incident merely said: “all the office-bearers have resigned and that a pro-tem committee has been formed. I am one of the members of the pro-tem committee. All other information will be announced officially”. He declined to elaborate further.
