Kuala Lumpur, February 9 – Former Strategic Director of MIC, Dato Seri S.Vel Paari has urged party President Dato Seri G.Palanivel to step down gracefully as party President and Minister in view of the statement by the Home Minister statement today.
In a press statement Vel Paari said, “The information and complaint that was lodged with ROS that illegal branches were formed has been confirmed by ROS via the Minister’s press statement today. The Minister continued to confirm that it is a serious violation. Due to these serious violations the ROS has now completely nullified the MIC polls held in the year 2013 and has called for re-election for all positions. MIC is being punished for election mischiefs and misdeeds of Dato Seri Palanivel”.
“As a severe repercussion to this, Dato Palani could now be charged as he has fallen foul of the law under the ROS, and hence under ROS article 9A he can be disqualified from running or holding any position in a society, not taking into consideration of a fine that could be imposed” Vel Paari continued.
“As a cabinet minister he has violated the oath to King and country and our laws and Constitution which he has sworn to protect and uphold. As such morally, the right thing for him to do is to avoid further embarrassment to country and party by resigning as a Minister and President of MIC” Vel Paari urged.
