Kuala Lumpur, Feb 16 – MIC Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam has accused Palanivel that he is responsible for the current state of affairs of MIC today.

“I would like to remind Dato Seri Palanivel that he is responsible for all the current problems faced by the party.  Many of the irregularities of the Party election are directly or indirectly related to him. His inability and refusal to address the issue had led to the current crisis” further stated Subra in his press statement today.

Dr Subramaniam Minister“In the last meeting with the Prime Minister he had agreed to implement the decisions of the ROS which were later conveyed to the MIC through a letter dated 6th February. Unfortunately he changed his mind the next day and disputed the decisions and appointed members and office bearers contrary to the decision. That action by him only further helped to heighten the crisis” pointed out Subra.

“His recent arbitrary suspensions of 3 members of the CWC of 2009 appears to be an abuse of presidential powers to perpetuate his own power. He did not attend today’s meeting with the Prime Minister due to reasons best known to him. I would like to state that if he had attended today a common pathway to ensure implementation of the ROS decisions could have been agreed upon.” said Subra referring to meeting today with Prime Minister Najib.

Subra also stated categorically that he is deeply committed to uphold the dignity and respect of our beloved party.

“Datuk Seri Palani’s statement questioning my commitment to uphold the party’s image and dignity is unwarranted. In the discussion this morning there was only a discussion on the BN acting as facilitators in mediating in areas of dispute. There was no proposal for the BN to run the MIC. The meeting further affirmed that MIC resolves it’s issues by following the ROS directives. The elected members of the CWC of 2009 were also reaffirmed as members of the interim CWC and will be responsible for setting up committees to conduct the re election. So where then is the role for the BN to run the MIC in total?” questioned Subra.

“Palanivel’s decision to take this matter to court is an attempt to prolong this crisis and further de-stabilise the Party. It is absolutely disgusting how the the President has procrastinated on this issue and had allowed something which could have been solved easily in the early days to balloon itself to become such a major problem affecting all the members of the Party necessitating in 3rd Party interventions” commented Subra.

His above statement was the second one since his meeting with the Prime Minister today morning.
