Tengku Adnan said the meeting reached an agreement for the MIC re-elections be held. “It was also agreed that the list of the MIC’s 2009 CWC be used (for the purpose of holding the re-elections) as decided by the Registrar of Societies (RoS),” he said.

Palanivel’s presence at the meeting today was the latest development and appeared to be a positive one in resolving the party’s internal crisis after his no-show at a meeting with Najib and Subramaniam on Monday this week.

BN LogoAccording to Tengku Adnan, the MIC branch elections would be held this April and election for the post of MIC president, in May.

“The MIC divisional elections will be in June and the elections for the party’s Wanita, Youth, Putera and Puteri wings between April and June. “The elections for the posts of party deputy president, vice-president (three posts) and the CWC seats as well as the MIC general assembly will be held in July,” he said.

On Feb 9, the RoS ruled that MIC should hold re-elections for all posts, from party president right down to the branch-level leadership.

The RoS also decided that the 2009 CWC elected in 2009 be the interim CWC until the re-election process is completed.
