KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 – Government aid for the people is not solely politically motivated but is one of the obligations demanded by religion, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom(Pic). The government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is concerned about the people’s welfare and by giving aid, the people could live in comfort
and harmony.
“All religions encourage followers to do good rather than create chaos that can lead to disunity among society members.
“In fact, leaders should show a good example to reflect their admirable character,” he said after opening the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP)-Pusrawi International College of Medical Sciences (Picoms) Haemodialysis Centre here, today.
Also present were Picoms executive chairman, Datuk Mahamad Zubir Sheikh Saad, MAIWP director, Datuk Che Mat Che Ali and Batu Gerakan parliamentary chief coordinator, Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai. Opposition claims that the aid was to garner votes during general election would not deter the government from continuing to look after the people’s welfare. Earlier, Jamil Khir commended MAIWP and Picoms for their colaboration in opening the haemodialysis centre.
“This collaboration will allow MAIWP to monitor patients funded by Baitulmal and ensure they get the best dialysis treatment and services from Picoms.”
The haemodialysis centre which began operation in early December last year can provide dialysis treatment to 78 patients. Currently, there are 60 patients. It has 13 dialysis machines managed by an operations manager assisted by ten trained nurses who graduated from Picoms. Picoms plans to set up two more haemodialysis centres, in Wangsa Maju and Cheras, to meet the growing needs of patients besides making it as training centre for Picoms students.
