KATHMANDU, March 4 – A Turkish Airlines aircraft with 224 passengers on board crash landed at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday.
The Airbus A330 plane flying from Istanbul to Kathmandu missed the airport runway’s central alignment and crash landed between the runway and taxiway, forcing it to skid into a grassy area.
Nepal Civil Aviation Authority director Ratish Raj Suman said the front landing gear of the airbus collapsed upon crash landing and all passengers were evacuated through emergency doors.
Airport authorities attribute the incident to poor weather and low visibility.
The airport runway was closed following the incident.
