“I’ve met with over 4,000 MIC branch chairmen, and I expect to gain the support of 2,500 branches across the country,” he said at a meeting with MIC members in Kampung Abdullah, in Segamat on Sunday night.
Palanivel said his focus now was to empower MIC for the benefit of the members. “It is important to strengthen the party, especially at the leadership level, so I’m confident that I will be able to improve the party,” he said.
The Registrar of Societies has ordered MIC to hold fresh elections after it found irregularities in the party elections of 2013 following complaints.
Palanivel, vice-presidents Datuk S. Sothinathan and Datuk S. Balakrishnan as well as MIC strategic director AK Ramalingam have filed for a judicial review of the RoS decision.
