Najib in Singapore to pay last respects to late Lee Kuan Yew

SINGAPORE, March 26 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak arrived in Singapore Thursday morning to pay his last respects to the late Lee Kuan Yew, the former Prime Minister of the island republic.

Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Datuk Husni Zai Yaacob said the prime minister, who is accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor arrived at the Changi International Airport at 11am.

He said Najib would also be meeting the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, who is Kuan Yew’s son to personally convey Malaysia’s condolences on the passing of his father.

Also in his entourage are several members of the cabinet, including Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri G. Palanivel and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mah Siew Keong.

Kuan Yew, Singapore’s founding prime minister, passed away on Monday at the age of 91.
