New Delhi, April 13 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited German industries to invest in India as he promised a stable business environment in the nation. Speaking at the Hannover Messe, a business fair, in Germany on Sunday, Modi said that opportunities in India were “seamless” and huge for a vibrant economic partnership.
The prime minister inaugurated the industrial fair with German Chancellor Angela Merkel as he commenced the second leg of his three-nation tour. He said India was working on a “predictable and transparent” environment to open up investments.
A PTI report quoted him telling, “We are creating an environment that is stable, where rules will not be changed frequently and there will be no surprise elements.” Modi made a strong pitch for his ‘Make in India’ campaign as he said it was not a “slogan or a brand, but a new national movement”.
The fair is as old as India’s independence, with the first held in a factory before moving to its own premises. Some 400 Indian companies are participating in the fair which will see the presence of about 120 Indian CEOs besides about 3,000 German delegates. After the inauguration, Modi address an India-German business summit as he wooed German investors.
