KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 – The Barisan Nasional (BN) government does not destroy the chances of Bumiputer entrepreneurs to venture into business, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. He said the BN was also not an irresponsible populist government and all its policies were made or implemented following detailed preparation based on the capacity of the country.

“(It is) unlike certain parties that easily promise the moon, stars and the universe without considering the implications of the pledges. What will be, will be, as long as they gain power.

najib“Have faith, the government is not deaf nor blind or insensitive, and is thorough in responding to challenges and the demands of the national economic agenda,” he said when delivering his message at the Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Assembly 2013, here today.

Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, and Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) chairman Khairy
Jamaluddin, who also chaired the assembly.

The assembly, which was being held for the first time, carried the theme ‘Spurring Success Together’ and was attended by more than 3,000 Bumiputera entrepreneurs nationwide.  At the assembly, Najib announced an allocation of RM600 million in the efforts to further empower the Bumiputera entrepreneurs, thus boosting their involvement in the global arena.

He also said that all aspirations called for hard work and solidarity from everyone.

“Thus, as a government, we will navigate the national vessel with full determination.

“We will work hard with great wisdom so that we will reach our destination safely and in prosperity. Actually, our future and that of our children’s depend on the decision we make today,” he said.

Najib pointed out that the present government was friendly to the Bumiputera entrepreneurs, responsible, ‘istiqamah’ or mindful of the blessings of Allah, and most important, it always fulfilled its pledges.

“Let us work together to ensure that the policies that can help the Bumiputera entrepreneurs are safe, if in the PRU-13 (13th general election) we support the BN-led government,” he said.

He said this was because no other government could champion the cause of the people except for the government of the day.
