KLANG, March 4- The four water concessionaires in Selangor, in principle, have not rejected the initial offer from the Selangor government to take over water assets, Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said today. According to him, they were willing to have discussions with the state government to finalise the proposed takeover.
“The concessionaires want to clarify certain issues with regard to the determination of valuation of assets.
“In short, there was no rejection by any of the water concessionaires on the initial offer made by the state government (to take over their assets),” he told reporters after visiting a dialysis centre in Taman Sri Andalas here today.
The Selangor state executive committee had on Feb 20 decided to allow Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Bhd (KDEB) to make an offer of RM9.65 billion to begin the takeover process of the four water concessionaire companies. The offer was made to Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas), Puncak Niaga Sdn Bhd, Konsortium Abass Sdn Bhd and Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Holding (Splash).
