Kuala Lumpur, May 29 – Speculations have surfaced in MIC as to who would be the potential recipients for the federal awards in conjunction with the Yang DiPertuan Agong’s Birthday celebrations on the 6th of June.
Every year several MIC leaders would receive various awards for their past services and contributions to the party and Malaysian society.
MIC sources said this year’s Tan Sri award on behalf of MIC is expected to be awarded to Dato S.Balakrishnan (pic), the current state chairman of MIC Johore. Balakrishnan also won as one of the Vice-Presidents at the MIC elections held in November 2013. However, the elections were subsequently declared null and void and the consequential legal tussle has resulted in court battles. The court is expected to deliver its judgement on the 15th of June.
MIC sources also revealed that MIC Penang State’s liaison committee chairman and Lawyer, M.Karuppannan has been recommended for ‘Datuk” award. Another ‘Datuk’ award recipient speculated is Krishnan, a long-standing MIC leader and currently division leader of MIC Subang.
