KUCHING, March 7 – Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud(pic) is expected to bring into focus some of the major challenges and opportunities that Sarawak will face in the coming years at the inaugural public lecture here on Monday.
He will also take into account the changing socio-economic landscape and impact of globalisation when delivering the lecture on “Sarawak Beyond Today: Challenges and Opportunities,” jointly organised by the Sarawak Information Department and Sarawak Media Foundation.
“The topic is as much academic as it is of public interest to opinion leaders from the major sectors in the state,” the department said in a statement here.
It said more than 300 people had been invited to the lecture, including senior academicians, heads of non-governmental organisations, chief executives from the industry sector, members of professional bodies, politicians, heads of government departments and religious bodies as well as members of the media and agencies.
The lecture will be followed by a panel session during which members of the audience can raise questions or seek clarification on issues of interest.
