KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 – Umno Youth wants self-proclaimed Sultan of Sulu Jamalul Kiram III(Pic), who allegedly ordered armed intruders to invade Sabah, to be brought to Malaysia to be charged. Its leader, Khairy Jamaluddin, said although action might be taken against the militants by the Philippine government, the mastermind must also face justice.
“Their action is a breach of Malaysian laws. I hope the government is able to do it and the Philippine government will agree to extradite the mastermind in the spirit of Asean.
“Politically, we have to show that whoever intrudes (into our country) has to be brought to justice.
“Umno Youth will not compromise on matters pertaining to the country’s sovereignty,” he added.
Khairy told this to reporters after representing Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the handing over of the 1Malaysia Book Voucher at the Malaysian National Defence University here today. He also urged the Attorney-General’s Chambers to take action against any individuals, including politicians, who claimed the intrusion in Sabah was
orchestrated and questioned the action of the security forces against the intruders.
Since the intrusion in Lahad Datu by the terrorists from the southern Philippines last Feb 12, eight policemen have been killed, two of them last Friday and six others in an ambush by the intruders in Kampung Simunul, Semporna, the following day. Last Tuesday, security forces launched an assault, using the F18 jet fighters and Hawk aircraft, to end the intrusion.
