CYBERJAYA, March 21 – The success of the students in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) today will push the Education Ministry to work harder in ensuring that students succeed academically and holistically.  Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin(Pic), who is also Education Minister said, the ministry was deeply committed in boosting the performance of students nationwide.

“Today’s results will be scrutinised and analysed. We will analyse the achievements of the students in the main subjects, the performance in rural and urban areas, between races and among those who took certain subjects.

muhyiddin-yassin“This is to ensure how our system of education can continue to boost excellence among all students,” he said in his speech at a ceremony to hand over the SPM result slips to outstanding students at Sekolah Seri Puteri, here, today.  All the 14 students obtained nine A+ and were each awarded a mini Ipad.

Muhyiddin said, the success of the school was due to close cooperation between the Education Ministry, State and District Education Departments including the role played by the Parent-Teacher’s Association.  As such, he hoped the close cooperation would continue in order to achieve greater success.

To those who did not achieve the results as they had aspired, Muhyiddin said, there was no need to despair, but they should use the outcome as a motivation to become successful.

“Your ambition does not stop with the results of the SPM, it is a beginning to a longer journey, there are many more opportunities and successes awaiting you after this,” he added.
