Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai visited the ongoing Chennai Book Fair on Tuesday (January 7). Arriving with his team around 2:30 PM, Annamalai spent about 3 hours touring various publishing houses and sales stalls at the book fair. He later held a press conference on the current political situation in Tamil Nadu.
BJP State Secretary Karate Thiagarajan and other BJP dignitaries accompanied Annamalai to the book fair.
Annamalai visited the Dinamalar newspaper’s stall which featured his book ‘Ungalil Oruvan’ (One Among You), published by Tamil Nadu’s Dinamalar newspaper. The book is a compilation of articles written by Annamalai about his padayatra (foot march) across Tamil Nadu, titled ‘En Mann; En Makkal’ (My Land; My People), which were previously published as a series in Dinamalar newspaper.
During his visit to the Chennai Book Fair, Annamalai received a book on Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim titled “Anwar Ibrahim: Prison to Prime Minister,” written by R. Mutharasan. Yavarum Publishers published this book in Tamil Nadu in conjunction with the Chennai Book Fair.
Author R. Mutharasan welcomed Annamalai by presenting him with a traditional ponnadai (shawl) and giving him a copy of his book about Anwar Ibrahim. Annamalai was briefed about the publication of the book, which chronicles Anwar Ibrahim’s 25-year political struggle, finally catapulting him as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.
