KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 – The 10 per cent rebate provision for Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usaha Niaga (Tekun Nasional) loans since last year has resulted in increased collection of repayments, said Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar.
He said last year, Tekun Nasional managed to collect RM271 million in repayments as compared to RM180 million in 2011.
Noh said the collection in 2012 was the best to date since the inception of Tekun Nasional in 1994 and that for this year, the collection target was RM360 million.
“The 10 per cent rebate was given to encourage borrowers to make consistent and early repayments. Those with a good track record of repayments will also find it easier to secure fresh loans,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after opening a conference for Tekun Nasional officers at the Putra World Trade Centre here today.
