New Delhi, March 13, 2013- We will take into account the views of the MPs, the developments on the ground, what Sri Lankan government has done and what the other nations have stated, said Khurshid
India will frame its response to the upcoming UN human rights panel vote on Sri Lanka on the basis of parliamentarians’ views, the ground situation and the record of the island nation’s government, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said Thursday.
“We will take into account the views of the MPs, the developments on the ground, what Sri Lankan government has done and what the other nations have said,” Khurshid said while replying to a debate in the Lok Sabha on the plight of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
DMK member T.R. Baalu initiated the debate.
India also needs to strengthen diplomatic steps to avoid a war in the island nation, said the minister while stating that he shared the sense of the house.
