ALOR SETAR, March 13 – The Kedah Gerakan Youth wing has accused the Pas-led state government of lying to the people by failing to fulfill its promise to implement three housing projects it launched in 2009 and 2010. Its chief, Tan Keng Liang(Pic) claimed the Kedah government had given false hopes to the people as not even one of the 3,399 units of affordable and low-cost houses it promised to build had been completed.
He further claimed that the state government had reneged on its promise to the people because it had burdened itself with a RM2.933 billion debt. Tan challenged Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak to respond to his accusation, adding the state government’s decision to borrow RM330 million to build the main campus for Kolej Universiti Insaniah (Kuin) in Kuala Ketil was ill-advised.
“It proved that the PAS government was incapable of resolving the state’s housing woes and meeting the people’s priorities particularly that of the lower income young generation,” he said at a press conference at the party’s office here today.
He said Kedah PAS which did not have any experience in leading the government should let the Barisan Nasional (BN) take over the reins.
