SHAH ALAM, March 14 – Selangor Umno veterans will set up 11 more branches in the effort to ensure victory for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general election. Its chairman, Datuk Abd Samad Maharudin said, the branches would be set up in a week including in Pandan, Gombak, Ampang, Hulu Langat, Petaling Jaya Selatan and Petaling Jaya Utara.
He said, 11 branches had been set up in Shah Alam, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam, Selayang, Tanjong Karang, Sungai Besar, Kapar, Sri Muda, Klang, Hulu Selangor and Sepang.
“We have 98,000 members in Selangor and the setting up of the branches is according to the 22 Parliamentary constituencies in the state,” he told reporters after launching the ‘My Family Votes BN’ campaign, here, today. Abd Samad said, the Umno veteran branches would act as a catalyst to together to wrest back Selangor from the opposition pact.
He said Umno veterans would start their campaigns at their respective family levels to ensure that they would give their votes to BN. Abd Samad said they had no intention of taking over or disturbing the duties of other quarters, but wanted to also meet voters, especially fence sitters, and to urge them to support BN.
