KOTA BAHARU, March 14 – Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan(Pic) has likened the opposition manifesto to a fata morgana (mirage) or hallucination.
“A mirage is seeing a pool of water in a desert during hot days. To a weary traveller, he sees a sparkling oasis ahead to quench his thirst, but it doesn’t really exist once he reaches the place.
“There is no oasis or pool, it is merely a reflection of light in the air which gives an illusion of an oasis in the desert. That’s the opposition manifesto,” he told reporters after briefing Kelantan Umno speakers here, today.
Ahmad said Umno machinery would be mobilised to advise the people not to be fooled by the opposition manifesto which was full of hot air. He said the speakers would explain in simple terms to make it easy for the people to understand based on information provided by the Finane Ministry that the opposition manifesto was farfetched and could ruin the country if implemented.
Apart from explaining government’s initiatives such as the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M), Ahmad said the speakers would also clarify various issues such as the use of the word ‘Allah’ and the Lahad Datu intrusion by Sulu terrorists. Meanwhile, Ahmad proposed to Kelantan residents who felt cheated over unfulfilled promises made by the PAS-led state government to file suit in court and Kelantan Umno could render assistance to them.
He said the Selangor government was being sued by about 11,000 people over its failure to fulfil the 2008 general election manifesto.
