After its Priv and DTEK50, BlackBerry has introduced its third Android smartphone with a special focus on security and data protection.

The DTEK60 includes a fingerprint scanner that ensures almost nobody can pick up your phone from your desk and peer at your mails, plus ac-WiFi, NFC, a USB-C port and a 21-megapixel camera (f/2.0).

Expect a 5.5-inch Quad HD display (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), a quad-core Snapdragon 820 CPU, 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM and 32 GB of expandable memory. The non-removable battery with a capacity of 3000 milliampere-hours (mAh) capacity charges very quickly.

Just like the Priv and DTEK50, the DTEK60 runs an enhanced version of Android Marshmallow (6.0).

BlackBerry has added its own storage encryption and a secure booting process to the mobile operating system. All software components are signed in such a way that any tampering can be detected at startup.

The security package also includes the eponymous privacy app (DTEK), which monitors other applications. The DTEK60 (model number BBA100-2) weighs 165 grams, is about 8 millimetres thick and sells in Europe for 579 euros (638 dollars).
