CARACAS, March 21 – The Venezuelan acting President, Nicolás Maduro, has the preference of voters for the elections of April 14, according to a survey by Hinterlaces pollster. Results of the survey conducted between March 11 and 16, if the elections were held today, Maduro would get the support of 53 percent of those who exercise their right to vote.
Meanwhile, the opposition candidate Henrique Capriles receives the support of 35 percent, while the Socialist candidate has a 18 point-lead. Regardless of the electoral preference, 61 percent vote for Maduro in winning the elections against 21 percent for the right-wing candidate.
The survey, with a confidence level of 95 percent, also shows that 69 percent of respondents considers positive the administration of President Hugo Chavez, who died on March 5. In addition, 70 percent said that the Bolivarian Revolution has helped Venezuela.
