Rome – Pope Francis on Saturday led a traditional hours-long Easter Vigil service at St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican before thousands of the Catholic faithful, speaking of the Resurrection of Christ.
The festivities took place amid increased security, with stricter controls made before entering both the church and the square in front of it due to the threat of a terrorist attack.
The pope in remembering the suffering of Jesus at Good Friday services made mention of the suffering of refugees, migrants and the victims of war throughout the world.
