JOHOR BAHARU, March 23- Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim today described as discourteous the action by a group of tertiary students who gathered and delivered speeches at the main entrance of Angkasapuri yesterday.
“I am saddened that the incident, which took place at a time when the election is to be called, was held without respect for the rights of others. “We respect their (students’) rights in the campus, so they should respect the rights of institutions established by law,” he told reporters after an event associated with taxi drivers at a mall here.
Rais said Angkasapuri, where the national radio and TV stations are located, was a prohibited zone and no one was allowed to hold demonstrations or deliver public speeches in the vicinity.
He said the police had taken the necessary measures under the law to maintain public order.
