KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 – MCA and Gerakan have lined up mostly newfaces in the list of candidates for the 13th General Election (13GE), to reflect changes in their approach towards voters.
Gerakan President Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said the Gerakan list comprised mostly women and young candidates, deemed winnable candidates.
“The list is almost finalised…over 90 per cent of seats and candidates have almost been decided…those we have nominated are winnable candidates but changes can be made to the list,” he told reporters at his office, here, today.
Koh hoped the results of the 13GE would be more positive for Gerakan and Barisan Nasional (BN) compared with the 12GE in 2008 which saw Penang fall in the hands of the opposition after 39 years under the Gerakan-BN control.
He added that confidence was high compared with 2008 since the support of the Malay, Chinese and Indian communities has returned to BN.
