SINGAPORE, March 30- Emirates and Qantas have welcomed the Competition Commission of Singapore’s (CCS) clearance of their partnership. The proposed alliance will allow the two airlines to coordinate their network, scheduling, pricing, marketing, purchasing, customer service, frequent flyer programmes and resourcing decisions in their passenger and freight operations globally for an initial term of 10 years.

In a statement Thursday, CCS cleared the proposed alliance between Emirates and Qantas Airways, after the parties provided CCS with a voluntary undertaking to increase seat capacity for passengers flying to and from Singapore on the routes involving Singapore-Melbourne and Singapore-Brisbane.  With the undertaking, CCS found that the proposed alliance would result in net economic benefit to Singapore.

Emirates-Airline“This partnership brings together two of the world’s best airlines and offers some of the highest quality travel experiences,” said Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline.
