SHAH ALAM – Malaysian Malay Network Organisation (JMM) president Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah was detained by the police at Keramat Mall Complex, Jalan Datuk Keramat, Kuala Lumpur near here, yesterday at 2.40 pm.
Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said in a statement that Azwanddin was detained for investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
He said a remand order on Azwanddin would also be sought at the Klang Court at 9 am tomorrow to conduct further investigation on his threat to attack a police station.
“In addition, he will also be investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for insulting an individual,” he said.
In the ‘Justice For You Adib and Sack Waytha Moothy’ rally organised by Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Geras) at Dataran Seni, Klang near here yesterday, Azwanddin in his speech issued a provocative statement among others threatening to attack the Klang Police Station if the parties involved in the death of Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim were not arrested.
Following that, Geras chairman Abu Bakar Mohamed expressed his disappointment at the speech as he had earlier informed Azwanddin that the rally was not supposed to bring provocation to race, religion or any organisation.
Muhammad Adib, who was a fireman at the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Department, succumbed to his injuries three weeks after being attacked by rioters in an incident at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, USJ 25, Subang Jaya last month.
