JOHOR BAHARU, April 2- MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung has questioned whether the decision of DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang(Pic) to contest the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat in the upcoming 13th general election is really to serve the constituents or just to show his power to defeat the MCA candidate.
Chor who is also Alor Setar MP, said the intention of the Ipoh Timur MP was very doubtful as based on his record, Lim had not served well any of the constituencies he had contested and won.
“When he discovers he is not welcome, he will hop to another area. So what is his intention of coming to Gelang Patah?
“Is he trying to show he is capable of providing services or just to show off that he can defeat the Barisan Nasional candidate from MCA?, he said after visiting the Gelang Patah New Village, near here, today. Also present was Gelang Patah MCA chairman Jason Teoh.
Chor said he fully agreed with MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek who described Lim as a ‘touch n go’ politician because since 1969, the DAP leader had contested in several areas including Bandar Melaka, Petaling, Kota Melaka, Tanjong and Bukit Bendera.
On PKR’s announcement that Kedah PKR Legal Bureau head Gooi Hsiao Leung would be contesting the Alor Setar parliamentary seat, Chor said this was in tune with Lim’s attitude of not really serving the people.
“In the 2008 general election, he (Gooi) contested but lost. Now he is returning,” he said.
In this regard, Chor urged voters especially in Gelang Patah and Alor Setar to make the right choice by choosing Barisan Nasional as MCA had never neglected the welfare of the people since winning the seats. Meanwhile, on his visit to Gelang Patah today, Chor who is also Housing and Local Government Minister, said RM400,000 had been allocated for five new
villages in the Gelang Patah constituency to upgrade drains and roads.
He said the five new villages were Kampung Baru Kangkar Pulai, Kampung Baru Gelang Patah, Kampung Baru Ulu Choh, Kampung Baru Lima Kedai and Kampung Baru Skudai with the upgrading works to commence soon.
