GURUN, April 9- The national convention of ulama pondok ( teachers of private religious schools) has issued a declaration that it is ‘haram’ (forbidden in Islam) to vote for opposition parties in the coming general election. The information chief of Pondok Minda, Kelantan, Harun Yahya, who chaired the convention, said this was because PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang(Pic), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP chairman Karpal Singh had issued a joint statement stating that non-Muslims were permitted to use the word Allah.
They also supported pluralism which was against the tenets of Islam, he told reporters after the convention ended here today. He added that the three parties were only serving the agenda of Islam’s enemies and as such should be shunned at the general election. Some 150 teachers of private religious schools attended the three-day convention.
