KUALA LUMPUR — Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin was appointed as the new Secretary of Dewan Rakyat effective May 13 (yesterday), announced Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.
He said the former division deputy secretary of the Constitution and Parliamentary Affairs Section, the Cabinet, Constitution and Inter-governmental Division, Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) had replaced Riduan Rahmat who had taken over as the Secretary of the Dewan Negara Management Division.
“On behalf of the government and Parliament, I express my deepest appreciation and gratitude to En. Riduan Rahmat for his service and contribution during his tenure as Secretary of the House of Representatives, of the 13th Malaysian Parliament since February 22,” he said in a statement, here, today.
Originally from Selangor, Nizam Mydin, 45, is a graduate of Bachelor of Laws from Universiti Malaya and a Master Of Laws from Monash University, Australia.
He is currently studying for a Doctor of Philosophy in Law specialisng in Parliament at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya.
Nizam has also served as an advocate, solicitor and syariah lawyer before serving as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in the Cabinet, Constitution and Inter-governmental Division, JPM since 2005.
