Visvaroopam-poster-Slider--2Chennai, 28 Jan – News reports from India stated that Justice K Venkatraman and a few other members of the judiciary, who watched Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam’ in a private screening on January 26, are to pass their verdict January 28, 2013.

The decision of the judges will further ensure whether or not ‘Vishwaroopam’ is to be released in Tamil Nadu.

On January 26, the screening had begun around 1:15 p.m. in the presence of Justice K Venkatraman, Tamil Nadu Advocate General Navneedakrishnan and Assistant Advocate General Aravind Pandian.

Chandra Haasan, Kamal Haasan’s sibling, and lawyer P.S Raman were also a part of the screening, which was organised at a private studio.

The Tamil and Telegu versions of ‘Vishwaroopam’, Kamal Haasan’s film on war and its adversities, that were to release January 25, found themselves at the receiving end of curbs following protests from Muslim groups. The groups claimed that the film portrayed Muslims in a negative light. And thereafter, a day later, the Madras High Court restricted the film’s release till Jan 28.

Several people from the film fraternity, including veteran superstar Rajinikanth, broke out in support of Kamal Haasan. Ajith Kumar, Parthepan and veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja too opposed the ban against the film and wished that it released peacefully.

‘Vishwaroopam’ is already released in Kerala and in some parts of Hyderabad January 25.

The film’s fate in Tamil Nadu is to be decided today. It is written, produced and directed by Kamal Haasan and stars names like Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapur and Jaideep Ahlawat in pivotal roles.
