PORT DICKSON, April 25 – The nomination of MIC national information chief, who is also the Rembau MIC division head, Datuk V.S. Mogan to contest the Telok Kemang Parliamentary seat is timely in efforts by the Barisan Nasional (BN) to wrest the seat from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Mogan, 45, is not a newcomer in the political arena as he was the State Assemblyman for Jeram Padang in the Jempol Parliamentary constituency after winning the seat in 2008, before moving to contest the Telok Kemang Parliamentary seat for the 13th general election (GE13). The State Exco member said besides having the strong party machinery, he was also using his vast experience to win the hearts of the voters.
“I have no problem meeting the people and resolving their problems because I am used to such matters. As an Exco member and assemblyman for Jeram Padang earlier, it was my responsibility to serve the people,” he told Bernama, here today.
In the 2008 general election, BN candidate Datuk S. Sothinathan and the Independent candidate, Mohamad Rashid lost to PKR candidate Datuk Kamarul Baharin Abbas by a majority of 2,804 votes. In GE13, Mogan will face incumbent Kamarul Baharin and Independent candidate Kamarudin Kumaravel Abdullah.
