George Town : The issue of a non-Tamil having been appointed as Deputy Chief Minister II (DCM II) for Penang continues create political debates in Tamil media and social media.

Many Tamil leaders and Non-governmental organisations have voiced their disappointment over the appointment of Jagdeep Singh Deo as DCM II by the DAP leadership.

While recognising the past services of Jagdeep’s father Karpal Singh and appreciating the excellent services provided by Jagdeep during his 2 term tenure as Penang EXCO member, these Tamil groups are arguing – when DAP can claim for a Chinese to be appointed as the Chief Minister of Penang because the majority of the population of Penang is Chinese – why can’t the same argument be put in favour of the Tamil community which forms 85% of the Indians in the country.
