KEMAMAN, April 27 – Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said is confident that Barisan Nasional (BN) will win big in the 13th general election by securing at least 28 state seats and seven parliamentary seats in the state.
Ahmad, who is also Terengganu BN chairman, said after seven days of campaigning, including in Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu and Marang, it was clear that the support for BN was getting stronger.
“From the 32 contested state seats, we are confident that we can win 28 seats. More than that will be a bonus.
“The tussle for parliamentary seats, however, sees only one tough competition, that is in Marang, while in Rhu Rendang constituency, supports for BN is also getting stronger with 45 per cent, while for PAS, 55 per cent,” he told a press conference at Kemaman Umno office here today.
On the candidate for the post of Terengganu Menteri Besar should BN win the GE13, he said it was up to the BN leadership to decide. In the 2008 polls, BN won 24 state seats and seven parliamentary seats in Terengganu, but PAS managed to wrestle back the Kuala Terengganu seat in a by-election in 2009.
