

Chennai: A Tamil book titled “Anwar Ibrahim: From Prison to Prime Minister” detailing the political struggles of Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, authored by R. Mutharasan, was first launched in Kuala Lumpur in February 2024.
The book was initially launched in Kuala Lumpur at a book release event presided over by Tapah Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, in the presence of Deputy Minister M. Kulasegaran and Batu MP P. Prabakaran. The book was later launched in Penang at an event presided by Penang State Executive Councillor (EXCO) Datuk Seri Sundaraju Somu.
The book, the only one in Tamil detailing the political struggles of our 10th Prime Minister, has now been published in India and was launched at the ongoing 48th annual Chennai Book Fair. It was published by Yavarum Publishers, one of the leading publishing houses of Tamil books in Tamil Nadu.
The Chennai Book Fair was inaugurated grandly last Friday (December 27) by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. Tamil Nadu Ministers Ma. Subramanian, Anbil Mahesh, and South Chennai MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian attended the inauguration ceremony.
The book fair, organized for the 48th consecutive year, runs from December 27 2024 to January 12, 2025.
A total of 900 sales stalls have been set up at the Chennai Book Fair. More than 100,000 books are available for sale. All sales centres offer a minimum 10% discount on books. Several international publishers and foreign embassies are also participating in this book fair.
The 17-day book fair is expected to attract more than 1 million visitors.
