SHAH ALAM: Armed forces personnel and their spouses, some 161,251 of whom will be casting their postal votes Tuesday, have been urged not be emotionally swayed by the Opposition’s ploys.
“Don’t derail the Government’s effort to bring about transformation for the nation and people, merely due to emotions brought about certain quarters owing to their own political agenda,” Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said at a breakfast gathering with airforce personnel at the TUDM Subang airbase here Monday.
He said the Government had laid down the foundations for transforming the nation, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the driving force.
He added that it was crucial for this transformation process to remain on track to develop the country into a high-income nation by 2020.
He also reminded those gathered to ensure the polls were carried out smoothly for continued peace and stability.
He praised the success of the ‘Blue Ocean’ strategy adopted by the armed forces and police in working together, particularly in handling the recent armed intrusion in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
