BUTTERWORTH: Bagan MCA Youth chief and parliamentary candidate David Chua Teik Siang has challenged DAP incumbent Lim Guan Eng to a debate.
Chua said he would like to take on Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general and Penang caretaker Chief Minister, to debate on development and social issues in Bagan.
“The debate will be on Lim’s performance as an MP over the past five years as well as the performance of his two executive councillors, Phee Boon Poh and Lim Hock Seng, who were also Sungai Puyu and Bagan Jermal assemblyman respectively.
“I will also raise matters about problems in Bagan Dalam and on the performance of incumbent A. Tanasekharan,” he told the press here Monday
On Saturday, Chua unveiled his five-point manifesto and pledged to look into constructing 2,000 low-cost units, to defend culture for all races and protect freedom of speech, education, enhancing welfare and combating crime in Bagan.
On April 21, Chua had also challenged Hock Seng to a debate at Dataran Demokrasi in Mak Mandin on the Rumah Hijau issue.
However, the debate could not be carried out smoothly as supporters, especially those from DAP, disrupted the process with jeers and shoutings.
