Kong Cho HaLUMUT: Perak DAP leaders have been told to make their stand on hudud law, and follow the lead of several DAP leaders from other states who have openly rejected PAS.

MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said it was time for them to state their view on PAS’ vision of turning Malaysia into an Islamic theocratic state.

“Perak DAP leaders such as state party chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Hamowe voters an explanation,” he told reporters at the MCA division here on Tuesday.

He said Johor DAP deputy chairman Norman Fernandez and Kedah DAP committee member S. Neelamekan had made it clear that they would not support PAS in the May 5 general election.

It was reported that Fernandez and Neelamekan had urged voters not to gamble away their future by voting for PAS until the party abandons its call for an Islamic state.

Kong, who is incumbent Lumut MP, said the two DAP leaders were aware of the crisis that would hit the people if PAS insists on implementing hudud law.

“Fernandez and Neelamekan refused to go against their conscience, just like DAP national chairman Karpal Singh,” he said.

Ting Tai Fook, Barisan candidate for Sitiawan state seat, said it was stated in the Federal Constitution that Malaysia is a secular state.

“DAP has to tell voters whether they are paving the way for PAS to achieve their agenda or not,” he said.
