The third phase, involving the development of a hospital and students’ hostels, is expected to be ready by end of 2015.

Also present was Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah.  MSU President Prof Datuk Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid in his speech said the campus was a manifestation of the country’s educational transformation.

He said the birth and success of MSU had been attributed to the success of its collegiate institutions, Kolej Pusat Teknologi dan Pengurusan Lanjutan (PTPL) and the establishment of Malaysia’s first college university, that is Kolej Universiti Teknologi dan Pengurusan Malaysia (KUTPM) in 2001.

“KUTPM was upgraded to a full university, known as the MSU in 2007 and it all led to the launch of the campus today,” he said.

Meanwhile, MSU Pro-Chancellor Tan Sri Wan Mohd Zahid Mohd Noordin said the campus would definitely boost MSU’s image and efforts to produce competitive human capital who would excel at both national and international levels.

“The campus also symbolises MSU’s commitment in making the national educational transformation agenda a success and in helping the country to achieve the status of a developed high-income nation by 2020,” he added.
