ALOR SETAR, June 23 – The Kedah government welcomes any comments or criticisms from opposition members in the State Assembly as they have the experience in administering the state before.
Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir said the comments and criticisms, however, should be based on facts.
Having helmed the state government for five years since the 2008 general election, he said, the opposition assemblymen would have realised that it was not easy to administer a state government, and as such, they should empathise with the current state government.
“On our side, we understand the problems facing the opposition. The experience in administering the state is vital to enhance understanding betweenthe two parties. In democracy, it is important to have check and balance,” he told reporters after the swearing in of the state assemblyman at Wisma Darul Aman here today.
On the selection of Datuk Md Rozai Safian as State Assembly Speaker and Bayu Assemblyman Datuk Azmi Che Husain as the Deputy Speaker, Mukhriz said it was apt as they both had the experience.
